What is better, a Master of International Economics and Finance or a Master in International Business

What is better, a Master of International Economics and Finance or a Master in International Business?
I have my undergrad in Finance, but have not been able to find any good jobs. So I was thinking to do my Master, but am not sure what field will guarantee me the better job opportunities. I was looking particularly in Australia as the universities seem very good and cheaper there, and found the Master of Int Economics and Finance and the Master of International Business. But I am not sure which one would be better in order to get a good career started. Like I said, I have my undergrad in Finance, but it was really hard. So I am not that inclined to do the first option, but I would if it's worth it.

I want to get my master's in International Business, what should I major in in college

I want to get my master's in International Business, what should I major in in college?
I want to go into International Business eventually, but I want my undergraduate to be a degree in something else. I'm definitely doing a minor in Spanish. Should I major in English or Economics? Which would be a better start to a career in International Business?

ooh yes.. why not..? i think u have to study about MBA in international business. or B2B business. for further info u can visit: www.myezmba.com thanks dear

Try the University of Michigan Industrial Engineering (IE), Global Leadership program. Its HARD. Choosing IE puts you on the path with some tough statistics and math courses but its the least technical of the engineering courses. Its an honors program so you must first do very well in other courses. With this degree you can go ANYWHERE for a MBA in international business.

Find a course, where you can choose from a variety of modules, that way you can spend the first year doing English, economics and Spanish, and it shouldn't effect your final grade. I didn't really know what i wanted and took a combined studies course and did history english, philosophy and space science in the first year. it was in the second year i made my choices and at least I can say I studied these at uni level. as well as that, i could change the title of the degree depending on the final modules I took. Anyhow, i'd take economics, what about something cultural? in english i had to read so many books, which really takes up a lot of time, like 2 novels a week, it felt a bit like a factory line.

Either English or Economics would be good. If you are thinking of a more finance oriented job than Economics. If more marketing or human resource, then English. Psychology is good for business. Since communication is important in business, English works well though. Charles Wankel Associate Professor of Management St. John's University, New York http://facpub.stjohns.edu/~wankelc

My advice is to major in Economics. I think Economics coursework is really helpful in graduate business studies, because it gives you groundwork for understanding not only how macro and micro Economic trends affect markets and companies, but also working with econometric and regression type statistical models. This is really useful stuff in grad school. In fact, when I earned my MBA at Michigan State, we had to take two graduate level economic courses. More importantly, if decide to take a year or two off between bachelor degree and graduate school. Economics will be much more beneficial in helping you land your first job. I donĂ¢€™t really want to put English down as field of study, since it is an excellent major for almost anybody. Its greatest strength is that it helps you write in clear and concise manor. On the downside, it is very dissimilar to finance, accounting, and other business courses. So, you are in for a big adjustment once you get to business school. Also, I can say from firsthand experience recruiters do not like liberal arts graduates. Best of luck, Pauly

You should be able to get your degree in anything you want. Check with your school counselors if you are not sure. That is what they are there for. They can tell you what leads to what. Good Luck.

As long you have the required grades, you stand a chance.

Would a Master Degree in International Business be to general

Would a Master Degree in International Business be to general?
I have a bachelors degree in Business Administration/Sales and Marketing. I am working on my MBA in International Business. I know specialization is important. Do you think this degree would be beneficial? I am currently working in Accounting/Finance. I don't want to continue on this path.

If specialization is important to you, you should get an MS, not an MBA. The MBA is a general degree training you to manage business at any level up to CEO. A concentration in the MBA program amounts to 2-3 elective courses in some field in the second year, but it does not make you a specialist in that field. Some students don't take a concentration but elect a variety of courses in the second year to gain a broad background for management.

Yes, of course. You can get as many degrees as you wish. (Did you really get to be an MBA without knowing anyone who was going for their second Master's??)

2
Sure, you can even get a second MBA from another school. But I would imagine that your MBA is more valuable as the MBA curriculum is probably broader. Also, it's more important where you get your Master's degree than what the degree is titled. A plain ole Harvard MBA is certainly more valuable than say University of Phoenix's MBA-Global Management.

marketing includes advertisements and making sales. international business is having foreign relationships & making your business expand overseas. it's that simple. in my opinion, marketing is a lot easier but it will be difficult finding a job. international business is fairly demanding, but you'll have to be at least bilingual (you'll should be fluent in at least 2 languages). good luck!

Jobs for someone with a master of international business, but no job experience

Jobs for someone with a master of international business, but no job experience?
-I've only had a semester long internship with an international company. -I'm still learning Spanish but I'm not fluent enough. -I've had two study abroad experiences which were both in Australia for a total of 2 years I was advised to get a masters by several professors. I don't regret my decision! It's the best thing I've done. "Sorry"...

Hired and fired hundreds over the last 40 years. I always suggest an applicant gets his/her BBA a few years of experience then attack the Masters program. Some listen some don't....those who don't are overqualified concerning education and under-qualified concerning experience.......sorry.

A master's degree in international business is less frequently offered than an MBA with a concentration in international business. I see no reason why your planned undergraduate major(s) would prevent your admission to either program. Admission opportunities for the best MBA programs are often significantly improved by a few years of work experience, preferably in business, after the bachelor's degree is awarded. You might also benefit by teaching English in Japan for a year after your bachelor's degree is awarded.

I would suggest finance with an embedded CFA qualification eg http://www.usfca.edu/artsci/grad/financial_analysis/index.html The CFA qualification is very well thought of and even in this lousy climate has good job prospects eg the FBI would love to hear from you (financial crime detection and investigation is in demand right now). Thanks Bill

How useful is a master's degree in international relations/business (or just in general)

How useful is a master's degree in international relations/business (or just in general)?
I'm considering pursuing a masters in international relations or business (probably business) after taking a year or so off from school. (Taking the year off because I am applying to law schools but realized that I probably won't be able to go without being drowned in loans and job prospects aren't as good as I thought. Don't have the time or money to do last minute master's applications and GRE.) How useful would a masters in international business be? Is it worth the time and money?

Well, its tough to say very much since I don't know anything about you and your ambitions. But I can tell you about my experiences. I'm going for a masters in aeronautical and astronautical engineering during night school, but I don't think I'll get a pay raise or better jobs because of it. I hope so - its a lot of work - but I haven't found anything that gives me much hope. So I'm not sure you'll see a lot more success with a masters in international business. I think employers are more concerned with work experience than education (after B.S. degree) so they don't value education as much. On the other hand, you may really enjoy getting a masters degree and that's valuable in its own right. Good luck!

If all of your credits are accepted you have about two years to go before you receive a bachelors degree and about two to three years additional for a masters degree./

I got my undergrad degree in business, but I wanted to do the Masters. Do you think that would be a good degree to go for? It doesn't seem to be an MBA, but it's still a Master in business. Do you think it's worth it or not? I saw that they offer these degrees in Australia, but I would like to use it for the States. Please advice me what I should do. Thanks

Sure if you want to have a really boring life.

Sure, it sounds like a very fine degree. In many US business schools, it is packaged as an MBA with a concentration in international business. You might be wise to spend some time learning a couple of foreign languages as well. There's plenty of work in international business.
